About

Professional engineering with a site-first approach.

MK Professional Engineering is led by a Professional Engineer focused on clear, buildable septic design for properties in Washington State. The goal is simple: understand the site, design a system that fits the land, and keep the permitting path organized.

Serving Snohomish County homeowners, small builders, landowners, and real estate projects that need practical septic design guidance before moving forward.

A Clear, Three-Phase Process

A practical path from early questions to permit-ready design.

Every property presents a different mix of soils, setbacks, development plans, and regulatory requirements. The work is organized into clear phases so the scope and next step can be shaped around the needs of your project.

01

Feasibility & Draft Design

Review the property, project goals, available records, soils, setbacks, slopes, wells, access, and other site constraints. When appropriate, this phase may include field investigation, soil logs, a draft site plan, and a preliminary system concept.

02

Final OSS Design

Once the likely system approach is established, prepare the final site plan, design drawings, calculations, construction details, and supporting documents needed for the selected on-site sewage system.

03

Permit & Review Support

Organize the permit-ready package, coordinate through the initial health department review, and respond to standard agency comments. Any added testing, major redesign, or new scope is discussed before proceeding.

Project-Specific Scope

A proposal shaped around the property and the work it requires.

Septic projects can differ significantly in site conditions, system complexity, available information, testing needs, and agency requirements. After an initial review, MK Professional Engineering prepares a clear proposal for the phases and services that fit the project. Work can be authorized by phase, with the scope and fees established before each phase begins.

For the property

Layout decisions tied to soils, setbacks, access, reserve area, slope, and the way the site will actually be built.

For the system

Design notes can include absorption area, trench details, dosing, pump selection, calculated head, and tank storage.

For review

Clear drawings and supporting notes that help the owner, installer, and county reviewer understand the design intent.
